Palamidi
The imposing castle Palamidi was a vision of Venetian Chief Morozini, when the Turks won in 1686 and occupied Náfplion. The design was by Gkrimani, who was the commander of the building was completed in 1714 during the second period of Venetian domination. Built 216 meters above the sea surface. The fortress was impregnable and consisted of eight bastions which united common walls. The town of Nafplio contacting gallery, later became the stairs.
The ramparts were at three levels. Walking on foot, reached the bastion Gkrimani and shortly after the bastion Robert. The remaining bastions, with the largest known Miltiadis is San Andreas, the Epaminondas, the Achilles Themistokles from which the precipitate Hassan Pasha fraudulently Arvanites. Since then, the area was named Arvanitias.
The Rock Palamidi overlooking Nafplio, named after the grandson of Poseidon.
After fortification, the Palamidi starred between the Castle and Argonafplias Bourtzi. The sovereignty of the Turkish occupation of changed the whole fate of the Peloponnese.
